Supporting local outdoor sporting events? Advantage For Who?
Friends, creating an event like the Hennepin Hundred or other sporting events or a race like the one I am proposing with other events like kayaking, we are essentially marketing and promoting our communities and businesses to the rest of the world. All the video and pictures that will be uploaded to social media for thousands of potential visitors and tourists even businesses to see. We need our committees to come out and support these efforts. For local small businesses this is about as good a chance as you will get to advertise your business to the world and public. Someone else is doing all the work for you essentially. Yes you pay or donate and your business gets in many publications and media web sites. Better yet get out there on the trail bring your tent and banners and promote your business. Media is usually out and about, your business could be on the local tv news, on the radio and in many pictures and videos uploaded to the internet. So many positive things come from participating in community events. You win, your community wins and we bring in more tax dollars so that local government officials do not have to seek to raise taxes on the local resident. Why not get visitors and tourist from out of town to pay our taxes? Everyone wins when you support community events.
